It is the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults awarded by UCLES - University of Cambridge.

It is the best known and most widely used pre-service training course in the world, and enjoys recognition internationally. It qualifies trainees to teach English as a foreign language anywhere in the world.

The training program includes teaching practice, observation of experienced teachers in the classroom, and completion of several focused written assignments. The course is designed for candidates with no previous English teaching experience, but is also suitable for those who have some experience but no formal training in the TEFL field.

Currently, 7000 candidates gain the CELTA certification every year being enabled to acquire essential subject knowledge and familiarity with the principles of effective teaching, develop a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners, and demonstrate their ability to apply their learning in a real teaching context.

If you are 20 years old with a proficient level of English, you may request an application form and a pre-task to celta@uplanguage.com.br or download the application form and the questionnaire. You can also download a CELTA course brief.

You will then be interviewed, personally or by telephone (if not resident in São Paulo) and will soon be advised ref. your acceptance on the course.

The program is made of at least 6 hours of observation of classes taught by experienced professionals; 6 hours of practice teaching with real language learners from the local community; instruction and practice in teaching the four basic language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and subskills (vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar); an introduction to classroom management, including such issues as error correction and giving instructions; an introduction to the roles of the teacher and the learner, as well as planning and resources for different teaching contexts.

At UP Language Consultants we will be running these courses, which usually cost about US$ 1.700,00 or more, at an affordable price, with a special discount. You can pay in installments. The fees exclude the UCLES US$ 145,00 certification fee.
